DataLock® – OS/Host Independent Self-Contained Mass Storage Security
DataLock® Secured USB flash drive is the world's first portable storage device with a self-contained "manipulable" on-board mechanism for user authentication and encryption. Similar to other DataLock® Secured products (DataLock FIPS, DataLock Personal, DataLock Promo, and DataLock Mouse), it has a number of benefits over traditional means of data encryption and user authentication.
All aspects of user authentication and encryption are embedded inside the mass storage device. Since no computer resources are required, the device works equally well across all operating systems (Win, Mac, Linux, Nokia/Symbian, Google/Android and Chrome, RIM/BlackBerry, etc) and computing and embedded devices (computers, netbooks, smartphones, tablets, laptops, etc). It will even work with office scanners and anything that supports USB / USB OTG (on-the-go) protocols.
DataLock® platform brings security, usability, and affordability together. Unique benefits and differentiators:
- Self-contained security and user authentication.
- OS / Platform independent – works with anything supporting USB/USB OTG (other protocols available)
- Full-disk h/w based AES 256 Bit (CBC mode) encryption - no public partitions, no auto-run features, no s/w drivers to depend on, etc.
- Dual PIN feature – supports Crypto officer and User
- Drive Reset feature – destroys encryption key and recovers use of drive
- Hacking detection / prevention. Auto-Lock on removal. Password rules.
When used in the corporate environments, DataLock® Secured devices can be used as a BitLocker™ companion providing an additional layer of security for the corporate users securing data on their computers. Also, their self-contained security allows the use of the popular "NO EXECUTABLES" (no auto-run feature) file type restriction policy. This simple setting goes a long way to prevent rogue software installations and control the applications from the USB media. Additionally, they also be used as an encryption device for storing data remotely (see CloudKey™ for more info).
