Problem:
How to
prevent the leakage of sensitive corporate information via portable storage
devices with no impact on productivity and ease of use.
Information
leakage is a growing problem as organizations are increasing susceptible to
inadvertent exposure of sensitive material via portable memory products.
Large amounts of information can get transferred to Flash and Micro drives
that are then lost or stolen. The recent discovery of military data on
stolen Flash drives being sold in an Afghan market
is a prime example.
Some
companies fill USB ports with epoxy. Others employ "port
management" or end-point security (EPS) software solutions on each
corporate computer. EPS enforces policy to permit the connection of certain
types of mass storage while rejecting all others. This creates an added
headache for IT and an administrative burden that results in password
proliferation.
Solution:
AutoSign
is an Automatic Sign On technology that can be applied to any portable storage
device. When applied to DataLock, it has all the features of the DataLock device
plus the ability to self-administer access policy.
AutoSign
is able to recognize a safe environment to automatically unlock and can be
used freely while inside the corporate network or on a trusted computer.
When outside, it is locked and requires authentication measures to access. For
example, when applied to DataLock device, it requires an authentication PIN
to access. Current EPS solutions can work seamlessly with DataLock Pro as
it does not depend on the host to administer security. Access is controlled
by the storage device based on authentication of its environment. The
device can be easily pared with a computer(s), network, and or user login
to allow both more freedom and security to the user.
